No Boost After Blanking Egr

Hi guys I have a 1.6 tdci focus 07 and just put a blanking plate on the egr valve, however the turbo has lost all boost, all I get is less than 1 or when it finally gets to 70mph the boost is only 3.4psi. Before I put a blanking plate the boost was a bit lower than usual at 7.9psi and boosting at 2500rpm. No fault codes present at the moment.

Please help me sort it out, I cant afford to pay for the garage to have a look.
