I'm having a problem with my 2008 Focus zetec 1.4, 90,000 km, every time I start the car, everything is ok until i take off, when the revs start going up to about 20-30 i hear a grinding noise for about 1 second. It happens every time i start the car and take off.

It only happens on the start up, if im driving the car and come to a complete stop and take off again it never happens. If I'm driving the car and it gets warm and i turn the ignition off for a few minute, it will happen again when i start up and take off so i dont think it matters if the engine is cold or hot.

Has anyone else had this problem or any ideas what it could be or is it just normal.

Could be the ABS test.

Mine does the grind every now and again. Seems to be pulling away while turning left out of my work car park but very hit and miss.

I also get the donk noise when pulling away in 1st, mainly sat in traffic on the motorway. Usually in 1st 0-10mph and can feel it through the pedal.

I feel it through the pedal also.

Its either normal or a very common fault lol. I dont want to take it to Ford as there trying to get me to spend £1500 to replace 4 injectors that they know are a faulty batch
