First Service

Featured Replies

so my 1litre tit x is due its first service 12 months its done 4400 miles how much should I be looking at ?

It should just be a basic service I think, should be less than £150 but prices vary a lot. That's really low milage for a year, I've done more than that in under 5 months and I only drive 17 miles a day commuting, but then I can't resist going for a drive in this so the miles keep adding up :)

My titanium needs it's first service (12 months) in November, I have already booked it. Ford in Denmark ask £275 for the first service, I have done around 18000 km in a year. I guess the prices are different in every country, although I didn't think by that much..

Shop around and plan to pay £120 at a dealer. Don't forget you don't have to use a ford dealer to service, your warranty is unaffected if you go to an independent garage as long as ford parts are used.

First service is oil change, oil filter change and odour filter for the air con / blower. Note that the engine air filter isn't changed in the first year.

Just asked a local garage here, and they would do it for £145 all included (and warranty kept).

Canceling my Ford service, no sense in paying double for that!

I'm guessing the Ford service isn't included in the purchase of your car?

We in SA receive a 4 year 120 000km warranty and a 4 year 60 000km maintenance plan with the purchase of any Ford, service intervals are every 20 000km so basically 4 services included with the option of extension if you extend it before service plan runs out. I'm sure it is worked into the price when purchased.

Nope, that was not a part of my purchase, they offered me a service plan for around £630 a year.

But hey, what do you expect for my £18.000? :P Freaking taxes here is insane.

Jip, you tend to pay for everything, but remember you guys still don't pay nearly as much on taxes etc. as we do, just to give you an idea, the Merc C class is build in SA and yet we still have to pay 100% import duties on the car, and because our Rand exchange rate is down the drain you don't get nearly as much for your hard earned cash as the more stable countries, but who's complaining, thats the cost of living in Africa, to get back too the topic, the only negative thing about having the service plan is that when the service plan is done, the car prices tend too drop drastically, so best too trade in before that happens or keep your car for 10 years till it starts becoming a classic, like I did with my previouse Toyota Conquest 1.6Sport, lost 1000 pound in price over 10 years.

Did a calculation of the service plan / just taking it to service, unless something crazy unexpected happens its not a good deal (here at least) but if im very unlucky and the car needs some major work down the lane, i will be in stuck with the bill ;)

On the import duties, normal here is 180% :) But all in all we don't have it bad, just makes me cry to know that i could get an ST for the same price in Germany, Sweden or the UK :P And like income tax here is around 37-45%, i personally pay 38% so kind of in the lower end, but the income tax is based on your income, the more you earn the more you pay.
