My Own Fault

Featured Replies

So, reversing into a space in the multi story car park today I hit one of the pillars even though the reverse sensors were flatlining ( I know, I have reverse sensors, !!!) So I have damaged the black plastic , put a small crease in the bumper and marked the paint , what a numptie , so when the missus finally stopped

Boll###ing me she made an appointment with a dent/scratch repairer ouch

So would you recommend the reversing sensors then ?

Joking sorry to hear that but hopefully easily sorted

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app

I know how you feel mate.

I forgot to put the handbrake on and rolled my 5 day old zetec s into a wall. GOt a nice brick graze on my lower bumper which will need repairing.

Never been so annoyed with myself haha. You live and learn though eh

In my defence I was reversing between two support pillars , something ive done loads of times and the sensors were bleeping merrily

away and I got to the point of one continuous bleep and in the mirror the pillar seemed miles away, only it was the wrong pillar . The sensors picked out(correctly) the pillar I was about to hit . Put it down to technology outwitting my befuddled brain ( something that is easy to do , I haven't been able to work out how to get pictures from my tablet onto this site , and ive been on it over a year! ?) lol

))

This does happen especially when parking close to other cars the sensor might beep fast suggesting you are close to the side whilst changing beep rating suggesting you are far from the back.

Parking sensors can make any driver lazy to double check I know from experience lol

Yes I'll use them as a guide from now on

Hope it's not too expensive to fix. I've found this too with parking sensors that they will beep when reversing past something that you won't hit, which is good in case you're too close. What I'd like to know is, has anyone ever hit something that the parking sensors didn't detect? I sometimes feel like I can't trust them 100% so keep looking behind me lol, old habits I guess.

Never hit something such as that mate but it's work looking out for small or narrow objects the size of cones if that's between your sensor there is a good chance it won't pick it up and that goes for concrete pillars

I might have to test this some time, but I think the sensors have a very wide angle of detection.
