Headlamp Level

Featured Replies

What setting would you use with 2 adults in front and 2 kids in back. 9 and 10 yo.

I have 2014 1.0 ecoboost titanium.

Just someone last night flashed thier rear fog at me as though to signify my lights were too high.

a have it about setting 2 but thats just my preference

They might have pressed the fog button accidentally, but you should be able to see where your light level is on a level road. The dipped beams on the current Fiesta are dipped very low even on zero, I'm not sure if 2 kids in the back is enough to raise it enough to dazzle people, I guess it could.

Thing is the dipped beam is so low that I don't like doing 70 at night on motorways, cos you can only see about 1 second in front of you. Good look if there's an obstruction on the road at that speed lol. Same for country roads, if I have to turn off full beam when another car is coming, 60 just feels like an unsafe speed due to how dipped the headlights are.

Ok thanks guys. There's definitely more light and probably further than my old zafira. My lights would have been sparkling clean too or possibly they thought my leds shouldn't be on or something, or as you say they nudged it accidentally. I'll see if it continues to bother others or drop it 1.

I changed my bulbs to cool blue intense from osram (not as bright as nightbreaker but lasts a lot longer) and despite the name there not blue at all there white and give 20% more light and the lights white but on my normal lights a didn't go that far but these new ones go a lot further

Those are the bulbs I have too, but thinking of changing them for Philips WhiteVision which are a bit whiter so will match the DRLs better, although more expensive.

Going back to a previous query I had about auto headlights. This morning was a bright sunny morning yet my lights decided they should be on. I felt no lights were needed at all. Does nobody else find it does this ?

A Guarantee others would have been on too just probably turned them off.
As we are now in the equinox time the sun will start to curve round the earth (i will get to a point btw lol)

the light sensor needs a certain amount of light to turn them off and its not getting this because the light the cars getting now is light thats bouncing off buildings etc and not actual direct sunlight and even though we see as day the days aren't as bright as they were just a month ago this is why they stay on also could be denser (near water ...river lakes sea lochs ) air which stops light coming through to the sensor as well a had this on my old car as well and mate has got it in his Audi aswell. But if you notice around midday sun will turn it off lol (because is getting a source of direct light but this is from far as i know lol

As James said this could be due to how low the sun is in the sky. If the sun is low you should be using your lights anyway, and I'm not sure about this but the sensor might be detecting the angle of the light as well as the intensity.

Is the sensor the little dome thing at front windscreen ? If not, what is that ?

Edit Its ok I googled this and see that's something to do with climate control.

It's behind the mirror / top of windscreen.

Yep, that's a sun loading sensor for the climate control.

You can't really press the fog lights on by accident on the St ?

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

I wouldn't think so, actually it can be quite hard to find the button without taking your eyes off the road to look where it is lol. I preferred the way it worked in the MK6, just pull out the headlight switch, one click for rear fogs and another for front.

Yeah I tried flashing my fronts at someone when I got car and realised after I had done the rears.

Lol yeah it's hard to remember which is which. At least with the two seperate buttons you can turn on the front without the rear, not something I ever do though.

Yeah I think you can be dun for having fronts on when is not foggy.

Yeah you're only meant to use them when there's less than 100m visibility (not just when it's dark). Some people seem to like using them to make their car look better. It may be a beat up 15 year old car that's falling apart, but it has 4 lights shining on the front so that makes it better :P
