Newbie Questions About My Focus Lx Auto Y Reg 1.6

Featured Replies

Hello

Just joined the forum and there is a wealth of knowledge clearly so wondered if I could pick some brains.

Couple of q's

1. Anyone know which oil i should be using as previous owner doesn't know : is it fully synthetic or not? Haynes manual says it is but hubby not convinced so some advice would be great.

2. I have seen loads of posts on this issue and have done a lot of the suggestions but to no avail! My central locking has started to play up in so far as random locking when driving, not opening when using the fob (or part opening), i can lock manually but even this only does the driver and passenger behind it sometime i then have to climb in to unlock the other side manually. This is getting progressively worse.

So far have:

Reconfigured the fobs

Checked the fuses (63)

Door wiring looks OK

Anything else we should be looking at??

All help really appreciated

this is in relation to the MK1 model btw

The recommended oil is Castrol Magnatec 5W30 fully synthetic.

The mk1 central locking suffers from water ingress into the module in the drivers door.

Check for corrosion on the contacts.
