Electric Windows Issue

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I have a Ford Focus Edge 2011 (reg 07/2011). Having previously had a car with manual windows for over 12 years I keep on making the mistake of turning off the ignition before I've closed the windows back up! It's annoying.

Does anyone know if there is a way to close the electric windows after the ignition has been switched off? I have been reading the manual but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It says something about Global opening and closing but I don't think I've got that this on my model of Focus.

Cheers, Ews.

Hi Ewan. My 2004 Mondeo does this. Hold down the 'lock' button on the key fob and keep it pressed down after the car locks. A couple of seconds later the windows SHOULD start to go up. Keep it pressed until they all reach the top. I would have thought a 2011 model would have this! Hope this helps you,

Chris

Hi Chris, many thanks for your prompt reply. I've just tried what you suggested but no joy I'm afraid. I locked her up and pressed and held the lock key but nothing happened. Surely there must be a way around this, especially for a 2011 model? I remember my mum had an old Volvo years ago and if she forgot to do the windows up it was just a matter of sticking the key in the door lock and turning and holding it and, voila, the windows came back up!

Appreciate your help anyway.

Rgs, Ewan.

The global opening/closing is to do with the key as mentioned above.

Global opening is when you unlock the car with the key and hold down the button all the windows will open. Global closing is the opposite. Not all cars have this feature though.

Other than that I think it's a case of putting the ignition back on i'm afraid.

If you have manual rear windows on the Focus, it will not have global open/close so you can't do it via the key.

Only way is to turn ignition back on I'm afraid :(
