Hi i have a 2007 focus 1.6 tdci which has developed a problem. The problem is that when driving it will not go above 2,500rpm without cutting the car out it also cuts out if you put your foot down on the accelerator too quick. Ive been told it could be the dpf or an injector leak but would like to know what other people think.

Your current list of symptoms could be many things. Any other symptoms? Have you connected a scanner to it? Are there any fault codes? Are the fuel and air filters in it a while or has it been serviced recently/

change your fuel filter it is being starved of fuel hence the cutting out, I expect it drives ok if you tickle the throttle but as soon as you want more go it dies .

Have you checked the MAF sensor, try unplugging it and see if the symptoms disappear, this sometimes happened on the MG ZT diesel and was sometimes down to a dodgy MAF sensor. Just an idea and free to try failing that get it on a diagnostics machine as mentioned and see what error codes it is throwing up. It could be any number of things as previously mentioned also.

I second Dreasz, cheap change so try it first. after that it could be injectors but most likely fuel filter
