Help & Advice For A Ford Focus Style 2009

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hoping for a bit of help really...I brought a second hand 2009 Focus with just 37k on the clock, in mint condition all round and runs like a dream but I've got one or two worries...

When I turn the car off (normal lock or double lock) my dashboard lights stay on for a while - is this normal?

When I pull up to a stand still the car seems to vibrate. If I tap the accelerator it's normal but seems to come back when it ticks over - is this normal?

Basic info on the car:

2009 Ford Focus 1.6 Style (no Bluetooth) 37k on the clock and I'm the second owner from new

Appreciate any help!

Liam

It's normal for the dash display to stay on for a few minutes once you turn the ignition off.

Hi - thanks for the reassurance.

I've been wondering if it was linked to the alarm/immobiliser as noticed it was on when people walked by the car...

Basically the light stays on as part of its shutdown routine, it should be off after about 15 minutes, if not the canbus is not telling it to shut down properly and you may need to investigate further

As to the vibrations, its common to have some vibration between 850 and 1250 revs, its a Ford trait, but if your getting a heavy vibration (almost like a shudder) it would seem you need either new engine or gearbox mounts at a guess.
