Hi - I'm hoping someone can shed some light on two issues I'm experiencing with my focus.

1. Dash lights staying on when car is locked/off. Noticed they go off after 10 or so minutes...is this normal? Is it at all linked to alarm or immobiliser? As noticed it was one when people walked bye the car...though I'd not long got home.

2. Vibrations when idling at traffic lights or stationery. Is it normal to feel vibrations when at a stand still? I've heard it's the car trying to find optimun revs for idle but wanted to know if it's an issue or not

I'm coming from a 1.4 2004 fiesta and my focus is 1.6 100bhp focus - it's much louder and I can hear the engine roar more...is this normal due to engine bhp difference?

In short yes all normal noise is down to poor sound insulation ford cutting corners to save money dash lights can stay on for up to 40 mins nowt to do with alarm or immobiliser its the ecu storing the memory and monitoring engine temp etc once it hits a preset time it switches off

Good to hear about the dashboard lights - seems excessive really but at least it's normal!

Ford cutting corners...surprise surprise. Not too shocked to be fair though the more I hear the engine growl the further I want to push the pedal haha

Any ideas or experiences with the idle vibrations?

I have the 1.8 Mk2.5, and mine does the exact same things as you car does.

The vibration as idle does my nut in, but I have learnt to live with it. I once got into the diagnostics and looked at the revs and they were bouncing between 700 and 750, hence the reason for the vibration. This is apparently normal, or at least it is on the 1.8 Duratec 125BHP

Hi - that's what I was hoping to hear really. Like any new car it takes a bit of time to get used to its quirks.

I've been reading around about the rough idle and seems to be like you say, where it's idling so low trying to find most economically rate it'll will be a bit rough...

Still annoying tho!
