Ok so I took the door panel off again today to have a better look at the front speakers and also managed to take some better photos so you can see just whats there.

You can see the distance from the window glass to the speaker bracket is just over 2" (55mm). I have fitted a speaker adapter which I picked on from Ebay for £7.99 and this then gives just over 3" (80mm) clearance. The other photos just show the speaker in various angles.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

So is your plan to give the original speaker more space using the adapter to give more bass?

No the adapter is so you can fit other speakers to the existing aperture. I've bought the adapter just not the speakers lol

Did you manage to get door cards on okay after fitting the adapter or have you left it off for when you get the speakers? reckon you could do a before and after comparison as I'm weighing up buying some! ta

To be honest I never tried though I looked and as standard the speakers do look a fair distance from the grill
