I asked about the space saver spare wheel, after looking on the computer, he said" the computer say's no". I'll have to order a 15" steel wheel and tyre with car jack costing nearly £150. Told him where to go. Has anyone ordered the spare wheel with their new car and was it a space saver? Will a MK6 space saver fit a MK7? Hi Jack I ordered a spare wheel with my new fezzi, but only because basically i didnt want the tyre inflation kit ! Eh up Jack I can answer this one, if you choose the steel spare wheel at time of ordering then its £30 I think its a better option than the tyre inflating kit (which apparently seals holes upto an inch long in the sidewall Fords tell me !!) at least with a spare you know you will get home. I think Fords will add the change to ya order providing the car is not very close to being manufactured (not sure when the cut off is sorry) By the time I decided that I would be happier with a spare wheel and made some enquiries it was too late as the car was being manufactured (hurrah) and I could order it as a post delivery option (which I have). It cost a few pennies short of £120 and I ordered it last week (so thats an up-to-date price), it comes with a wheel brace and jack too. I know I could have had it for £30 but thats my fault for not ordering at the time. Imagine if you want one but don't pay the extra how pee'vd will ya be if ya brake down and your inflating kit doesn't work !!! Now I'm told no space saver, and a 15" steel wheel is the only option for about £100+. Same as me except basicaly i was waiting for 2months for my no cost option space saver spare, but in that time the sales bod who had been dealing with me from day one had left so i complained like a trooper and the sales manager eventualy took a 15" steelie with jack+brace from a demonstrator and plonked it in mine for nowt lol. I,ve looked on the web but can't find one Did the dealer say mk6 wont fit your mk7 or did he actually try one on the car for you,because if you look at most tuning companys alloy wheels,you get the same part number for a wheel for a mk6 as well as a mk7. Air Hostess Posted July 8, 2009 Share Posted July 8, 2009 The "Parts Specialist" told me that the stud spacing would be difference from a MK6 to MK7. but nobody has actually tried a mk6 wheel on your car,I dont think ford would have changed the front and rear disc/drums from the old model, especially with the mk7 being lighter in weight ,so less energy needed tostop the car why have bigger/different brakes/stud patterns adding to the cost of the car when they can use stuff from the "parts bin" at no extra set up cost, I bet if you tried a mk6 wheel it would fit. HI i was able to get a spare wheel from E-BAY, 14-inch off a mk6, i have compared the wheel nut spacings on my mk7 and they are exactly the same. I specified a spare wheel (it was a no cost option when I ordered my Fiesta at the end of Jan 09). My car's a Titanium with 16", 6.5" wide alloys and 195/45 tyres; the spare's basically a 14" 6" steel rim with 195/65 tyre - these wheels & tyres are standard fitment to models lower down the range. Will this be alright to fit on a car with 205/40/17? I read on here (can't fint it at the mo) someone doing some maths on tyre and wheel size and rotation, can anyone can link me to the thread or explain it again. EzzyRallyBoy Posted July 18, 2009 Share Posted July 18, 2009 Could it have been my post you might be referring to Jack ?? :- http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/index...?showtopic=6099 So, you have 205/40/17's fitted A 17 inch wheel = a diameter of 17 x 25.4 (inches to millimetre conversion) = 431.80mm /40 of a 205 tyre = 205 x 0.40 = 82.00mm (this needs to be added twice as the tyre is above and below the wheel rim) So the overall rolling circumference of your wheel / tyre combo = 431.80 + 82.00 + 82.00 = 595.80mm Your new spare is 175/65/14 A 14 inch wheel = a diameter of 14 x 25.4 = 355.60mm /65 of a 175 tyre = 175 x 0.65 = 113.75mm So the overall rolling circumference of ya steel spare wheel / tyre combo = 355.60 + 113.75 + 113.75 = 583.10mm 595.80 - 583.10 = 12.70mm (1/2 an inch !!!!) - My previous calculation of what Ford where supplying as standard gave a diffence of just 1,0mm I presume you have selected a Ford Option wheel / tyre combo when you bought the car, and thus the steel spare would have also been an option, so really you just need to check with Ford what tyre they would have supplied your car with had you took that option, bearing in mind your larger rims - If they say 175/65/14 then your sorted surely ?? I am not sure what the safe differential between the two combinations is I am sorry, maybe your local tyre depot can give you any legal requirements - Let us ll know what they say if Fords can't help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

A 15 inch wheel = a diameter of 15 x 25.4 = 381mm /60 of a 175 tyre = 175 x 0.60 = 105mm So the overall rolling circumference of your wheel / tyre combo = 381 + 105 + 105 = 591mm A 17 inch wheel = a diameter of 17 x 25.4 (inches to millimetre conversion) = 431.80mm /40 of a 205 tyre = 205 x 0.40 = 82.00mm (this needs to be added twice as the tyre is above and below the wheel rim) So the overall rolling circumference of your wheel / tyre combo = 431.80 + 82.00 + 82.00 = 595.80mm A difference of 4.8mm Have I done this correct?
