Mk3 Black Gloss Plastics Scratches

Featured Replies

I must admit I tend to spend more time on here just browsing as opposed to logging in and posting but I have a question for you all.

I bought a brand new Focus titanium mk3 in November last year and barring some minor niggles it has been superb. However one of these niggles was how scratched the high gloss plastics are on the doors. I just sort of settled with it but it's got to the point now where it's driving me mad, in sunlight it looks absolutely horrendous. Now my car hasn't been through any automated car washes or used any brushes of any sort on it.

My question is has anyone else experienced this?

Do you think I should go back to my dealer about the issue (seeing as the first year is almost up) to see if they can be replaced under warranty?

Is there a product that will remove the scratches or should I just live with it?

It amazes me why ford would use such a soft plastic on the exterior of a car. My dad's VW polo has high gloss plastic on the exterior of his car and it is nowhere near as scratched as mine appears to be.

Apologies if similar has already been posted I did a search but couldn't find anything :)

Thanks

Dave

First job, go see Ford

Next job, use a plastic polish to buff em out. Search on ebay for watch polish "pol" something, works well on plastic

Second solution is to Wrap or dip them

Thanks. Will probably pop into the dealers at some point during the week and speak to them about it see if they'll replace them. A bit disappointed with the poor quality material considering the price of the car isn't exactly cheap!
