Clutch Pedal Has Hydraulic Fluid On It After Changing Clutch Master Cylinder ?

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Bit of a strange one, I recently noticed some hydraulic fluid on my mk1 focus (02 plate) clutch pedal.

I did my research and came to the conclusion that the clutch master cylinder had failed, I proceeded to purchase and fit a new replacement with no problem.

That was about 2 weeks ago, I've checked it again - and the hydraulic fluid is back on the clutch pedal once more.

Apart from the clutch master cylinder, is the any other parts of the hydraulic system in the vacinity which could leak and allow hydraulic fluid to find its way on to the clutch pedal ?

The brake pedal is dry as a bone, and the master cylinder looks dry aswell.

Before I start closer investigating tomorrow with a lamp, was wondering if anyone else had seen anything similar ?

Cheers, Vaughn.

May just be residue from changing the cylinder. Any significant drop in the fluid level?

If you can't feel much difference in the operation of the clutch I'd say just give the pedal a really good clean as best you can & check again in a few days.

Cheers Ade, I hope you are right to be honest.

I've just had a good look a few minutes ago, everything is perfectly dry... so am at loss as to where it could be coming from.

I will check again in a few weeks, hopefully any residue has gone now and no new fluid will appear.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
