Ford Focus- Problem While Driving

Hi, I have a Ford Focus 2006 with an intermittent fault while driving - the instrument panel lights come on and the car loses power. If I stop and restart it it runs fine with no problems. Anyone any ideas. Thanks

    Exactly what circumstances when driving? when you hit a bump?, when you take foot off throttle? on throttle? etc

    Check battery connections and wiring harnesses

    Have you access to a fault code reader? would be a good time to use it

    also horizontal lines show in the speedo mileage window- what do they mean?

    I may be mistaken ( I quite often am) but I seem to recall that when I was looking to buy my 56 plate Focus in 2007 that there were a few Foci around that time having problems with the soldering on the pcb behind the dash.
