Need Help Asap With Alarm. Alarm Will Not Activate Post Elm 327 Update

Featured Replies

so as it's state in the title I need help ASAP. basically I have updated the car with the elm327 and activated the one touch double lock. but ever since I've done that the alarm doesn't set when the car is locked but the indicators blink when the car is unlocked. I can open the bonnet and the alarm doesn't sound. I have just literally turned the double lock off and reset the module and nothing has happened. is there away of putting the module or whatever controls it back to normal/original settings? does anyone one what is meant to be ticked in the GEM section? I really hope someone has had this problem and could help me. I need to know asap I have my alarm not working.

Sorry in adavance if this sounds abit angry but I hate things not working and not knowing why. I'm nice really honestly :)

many thanks

Ryan

Just put your original backup file in again (you didi back up your original settings?)

Any fault codes to clear

Check the alarm setting in Focccus is set correctly

I think I did I can't remember to be honest I have to have a look I did save a few files when I did it. I think I saved the car before I've started. .how do I check the alarm is set correctly though? that what I need as that may lead to my problem. the alarm can't just disarm itself and not be able to rearm it again right? Can you not just reset the module to original manufacture settings? thanks for replying to me :)

As far as I can remember there are just a few alarm settings, one where you say its a thatcham cat 1 and another where you turn on the speed lock. There were some autolock settings but I never touched them

There is no reset, You should have backed up your original settings to a file so you can restore them at any time. If you did back them up then just reload them and send them to the car that restores it

I have a problem the original file has been overwritten as I've tried reloading what I thought was the original settings. so now what do I do? it's not a massive problem but it means that I don't have an alarm. :( what else can I do.

There is a Ford website where you can download your original file that was on the car. Sure someone will come up with the URL.

Or just change what you changed in Foccus back

Good hint with Foccus, always only change one thing at a time, deploy it and test, and ALWAYS back up the original config file

Car fixed. turns out the bonnet microswitch was having a moment and was really stiff so I lubricated it along with the lock and it appears to be fine now. thanks for your help through

PM me your email and I'll send you a copy of my original file where the alarm works fine. you could load this into Foccus and compare my settings to yours, then you could see what setting was breaking your car and change it

Also have you cleared your fault codes since you updated?

Thats great to hear. One I must look out for on mine as if its happened to one its likely to happen to more, did you just give it a good grease?

  • Author

Yeah I gave the micro switch a good greasing with some heavy duty low temp grease from work I had laying around but wd40. i wouldn't mine it you coule sens me a filé over so I can compare if that's ok. my address is ryanbarrimore at yahoo.co.uk. I only noticed this because in the GEM it said what caused the alarm to go off and it said hood ajar so I had a look and the switch was solid. so give it a good grease and exercise the switch and it will be fine. I think in very wet weather or everytime you wash your car is to grease it just to keep mind at rest. I have noticed that since I've done that the alarm will go off sometimes when I open the bonnet and then sometimes it doesn't. Not sure what could be causing that. least I now know the alarm is active and the indicators flash :) Thanks for replies
