Willy
Need advice on getting the dust off the car. Builder hosed the car over to remove the dust but it has now left a thin rough layer all over the car. Please help.
FOCA
Might need expert advice (eg professional valeters) as anything you do now may just make it worse, cement is alkai (so can damage paint/ laquer) and hardens with age
Willy
Bugger. I need to get the windscreen clear first and have read about putting vinegar on it. Any ideas?
FOCA
Bugger. I need to get the windscreen clear first and have read about putting vinegar on it. Any ideas? A glass scraper might do it - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stanley-Blade-Glass-Window-Paint-Ice-Scraper-Remover-/120432326275?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Paint_Varnish_MJ&hash=item1c0a537683 Cement (concrete) is not easy to remove, once it hardens - a solvent/ acid strong enough to melt the concrete might damage the car if the cement is on the paintwork t-cut might do the trick, if not cutting compound and a buff, if the paintwork gets scratched it may need a respray to bring it back to the way it was Thats why you need to be careful, as anything you do might just make matters worse than if its done right in the first place
Stoney871
What you actually need to do is get the Builder to have your car cleaned. He caused it, he remedies it. He is liable.

Willy
Only problem I can see happening is the builder offered to cover / move the car when he spoke to my Mrs (she can't drive) and she said no silly moo :(
jeebowhite
Ah unfortunately that leaves you with no comeback...
Stoney871
As legally he could not move your car and your Mrs can't drive then he should have definitely covered the car or contacted you. I'd still hit him with the bill.
Willy
So, I got the snow foam out today and gave the car a blast with the jet wash and it has made a small difference. I didn't wash the car but it looks like it needs a few more treatments so I've ordered some Autoglym fallout remover to try. I did successfully clean the glass with vinegar though :)
