alf1956
Hello there fellow members I have a 2003 fusion 1.4 tdci & was wondering what the intervals are for changing the timing belt ? Also if the timing belt breaks does it cause major damage?
fusionfan2
Is the same as for the petrol? If it is 10 years or 100,000 miles....
jeebowhite
Nromslly its 125k miles, visit etis.ford.com registration lookup and then generate schedule.check the ten year which will tell you the mileage. It should have been done by now as your probably on borrowed time.
alf1956
Thank you for your replys, does it cause major engine damage if the belt snaps ?
PhillFocus
yes if the belt snaps in most cases the pistons slam into the valves and that is RIP engine
jeebowhite
Depends on the speed at which it collides, it could just bend valves in which case it relaxes it from rip to just engine rebuild, but it costs a lot and is still a lot more than a change.
