Bluefin + Gearbox Issues

Featured Replies

Afternoon,

i've had bluefin running on my car now for quite some time and yesterday a problem started. When ever trying to put the car in first gear when moving (even slowly) it would grind the gear and not go in. All the other gears where fine and the clutch wasn't slipping as it pulled fine in 2nd whith my foot down. Once in first gear it behaved fine too. Just grinded when i try to select first when not a total standstill. I assumed this was synchro failure of 1st and was gonna take it back to ford.

Now, because it was going back to ford i removed the engine remap for obvious reasons, the car is still under warranty. Now that i've removed the map, it suddenly gets first gear easily, doesn't grind or anything. Anyone suggest why this is? I don't think its because the map is more powerful as it does this at 5mph rolling along!

Any ideas anyone? = \

Edit: sorry, its the fiesta 1.0 100ps ecoboost model

I would assume that it is an unrelated problem, it is just coincidence. Give it a few days and see if the gear issue reappears, if so, take it to Ford. if not, put the map back on and see if the gear issue comes back. if it does, it is a problem with the map but I cannot see how it would cause the symptoms.

Could refreshing the old (standard) ECU config recalibrate anything that could be causing the issue? I don't really see how as the shifts are all mechanical and not electronic controlled...

ecu and gearbox completely unrelated... Gear box on mk7 fiesta are known for 1st and reverse crunching and slipping. Double press the clutch if it does it and it'll go in fine

So i put the map back on and the issue has gone. Why would the car suddenly not be able to get first at any speed unless its standing still? Gear linkage issue that has rectified itself? Can someone mechanical ease my mind? haha.
