jack
How does the Perimeter Alarm work? I,ve had yet another fall out with the neighbors, last time we fell out they knocked my wing mirror off and tried to smash my car window. Today they got the kids to throw stones at the car, so when I told them to stop it, I got "dont you tell my kids what to do" so I said ""YOU better tell them to stop then". I then got told "boys will be boys". Anyway it ended with them saying "you better watch your back, when my brothers find out" So just wondered how good the alarm is? I waited 3 months for this car for these jealous pieces of S*#t to get there kids to throw stones at it, I'm so fed up. Looks like sleepless nights for then few months. jma78b
Oh i'm really sorry to hear that. Why are people so jealous. You work so hard for your stuff and then these nomarks want to trash it. I really dont know what to suggest apart from moving house. See what you can find out about getting an ASBO on them. Maybe they have provoked other neighbours. KeithC
To answer the original question, the perimeter alarm doesn't work like it sounds like it should, ie be activated when someone gets close. Ford's version of a "perimeter" alarm is that it'll sound if someone opens the door, boot or bonnet or breaks a window, so you won't be warned when someone is close to your car. CARTER141
Break their noses, its exremely painful, and they won't forget that in a long long time, especially if their nose is deformed for the rest of their lives!
Andy09
And I thought my neighbours were bad! I've managed to set my alarm off once but only by opening the boot as the car was locking (by accident! :) )
mitch84
should you not just ring the police next time somrthing happens , certain things can be petty but if they are causing criminal damage ? it might be the wrong route to go down though? jack
I would love to do all those nice things mentioned, but last time I had words they ran to the police saying I threatened him. Amazing! they do the damage to my house and car and it's me who has the police round. Anyway car is OK this morning but gate latch has been broken off. It's the weekend I worry about when her brothers are in town, not for my safety but the cars as they like sneaking around at night.
swerved
might be worth parking elsewhere and walking a bit to get to it rather then have it outside your door and in eye shot of the neighbours
mitch84
if you have a video camera you should set up hidden surveillance overnight as evidence
paulworthing
Scum - they should stop them from breeding and that might cut down on their brats running riot!
CARTER141
if you have a video camera you should set up hidden surveillance overnight as evidence But make sure it does not cover anywhere outside the boundaries of your property. True, if its trained on a front gate, it may catch a bit of public property. But the police will not be too happy if it is intentionally pointing to your neighbours house!! Let's hope they don't try and break into your car and steal the camera.
jack
sorry I wasn't very clear. The camera is on the wall pointing at the car. I have seen a few micro cameras on E-bay disguised as lighters and !Removed! packets. Am i right in saying the Zetec s comes with an alarm as i can't see a flashing red light. My old Escort zetec had a flashing light and I seem to remember a test button under the bonnet that had to pressed a certain amount of times. Zippy
I think our Titanium light flashes underneath the 3 line display, fuel/mileage/out temp etc, in this lil window thing, it also acts as the immobiliser, but don't quote me, I am a girly, and don't do tech things well, lol. Good ol' floodlights are also pretty good at deterring trespassers. The is a flashing red light under the trip computer, it's in the same place as the blue light for full beams. I'm not sure if that means you have an alarm or not though.

jack
No damage on car this morning. Camera caught kids "playing" around the car before school, so at least that works. Her plan will be for the kids to damage car and if I say anything, play the kid card "but they are only kids playing". Wont be long before the kids are playing football in the street around the car. Anyway car does have a flashing red light under the trip computer.
