Focus Mk 2 Wiper Query

Featured Replies

Okay,

So I've has this 08 Focus mk2 zetec for about 6 months now. Love it to bits, and after those first car nerves settled down I stopped 'looking' for faults and began to simply enjoy it.

However, something I just want to run past you fine gentlemen is this...

I was driving in the rain the other day, wipers on full (not double speed, not intermittent, but just normal) when, as the car eventually came to a standstill at a junction, the wipers suddenly switched to intermittent. They remained in intermittent mode until the car started moving again, at which point they returned to their normal sweeping pattern.

Just wondered if this was some kind of feature, or whether I've discovered a fault.

Hopefully somebody knows what I'm on about and any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys

Yeah it's normal, Peugeot I had before also did it.

I think it stops wear on the motor, as you are not driving into the rain the water they have to clear is a lot less I guess

Hi Simon. As above replies, our Mondeo has it! Pretty clever eh?

Cheers,

Chris

Ha ha

Thanks guys.

Just worried me a little as I'd NEVER noticed until the other day. We had some pretty heavy rain and it became hard to see as I was sat waiting to move off.

No way to turn this feature off I bet?

If you want to stop it just flick the wiper lever up to full speed and back down to normal again.

Alternatively set your intermittent wipe speed to maximum and therefore there won't be a big drop in wipe speed when it kicks in/out.
