frund
This car has done only 20k but is 10 years old, used very little. The Cambelt surely needs changing. Are there any special tools needed to do this. I read somewhere ford do not fit Woodruf keys to locate gearing to shafts. Do I need to remove any gears or can I just locate timing pegs or marks remove/ replace tensioner and change belt. Any help would be welcome

winemart2
Prolly too much. Dread to think how much for an ecoboost belt. Prolly cheaper for a new engine. I can hear the muckanics sucking their teeth as I type. Ecoboost? They're disposable aren't they? Ok, I'm a pessimist. I'd guess £100 at your local greasemonkey, £250 at a dealer. mick85
It's pretty easy with tools but u need a blow torch for crank bolt if u don't have very powerful air gun Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
frund
The actual mechanics seem not too difficult. Crank tdc fireing stroke, remove spark plug cyl 1 for this. I believe there are locating holes for pins which must line up before and after.Tensioner and waterpump seem no to difficult. Cambelt locked with tool. Slacken Cam pulley.. Using tool..ok so far. I wonder if there are any line up marks/ pin to help with bottom pulley (for belt) which becomes a free agent after taking off the mega tight (by the sound of it) bolt. Any person brave enought to assist.

stef123
If I insert this pin does it lock the crank in the TDC position. I really want to say, it all depends where you insert it to be fair lol Yes the crankshaft pin will lock the crankshaft at tdc.
Dan62
Here's the instructions from the Ford TIS. I decided not to do mine and after the garage saying the crank pulley was such a problem to remove was pleased I paid someone else to do it.
