New Cv Boot Fit Tips And Torque Settings?

Featured Replies

Im going to renew my outer cv boot. Any tips on easiest way? Should I do it on the car or fully remove axel and clean out joint?

Also need torque settings for

hub nut

Track rod bolt

Lower strut bolt

Roll bar link.

If the joint is still ok (ie, not full of water and grit!) then I'd use a stretch boot, saves having to dismantle everything and get CV grease everywhere lol.

Already have it nearly stripped.

Need the torque settings.

Ah ok, fair enough!

I've got a Haynes sat next to me but it's for the Mk2, not sure if the torque settings will be the same I'm afraid.

Iirc the front hub nuts on the mk1 should be about 320Nm

I wouldnt worry with torque settings for the other bits just do them up tight.

EDIT - 316Nm, I have just checked autodata to confirm

Maybe too late now but with some of Ford's driveshaft boots it's actually cheaper to buy the kit what does inner and outer than it is to buy the outer alone ;)

The place which replaced the outer boot on my ST had loads of inner boots spare that they couldn't give away :)

Thanks, had to buy another torque wrench as mine only goes to 200nm, which is all i have needed until now
