Start Stop

Featured Replies

Read a post some while ago about a member who bought a new Focus and the stop start had never worked. I know there are certain conditions under which it won't and on my Focus it has been hit and miss. However i stopped at the traffic lights the other day, dipped the clutch into neutral engine kept running. While i was sitting there decided to dip the clutch again much further than i normally would and sure enough the engine cut out. Carried on doing this and each time engine cut out.Hope this helps anyone with this problem.

Correct another trick is a hard pump on break pedal :)

Mine will only cut out when in neutral and foot OFF the clutch. But has to be fully charged. If lights are on or AC on it often won't cut out or only for a short time

Mine is the same,, you have to slip it in to neutral and let the clutch out and it turns off, it tends to work every time provided those prematures are met,, ie,, battery has enough of a charge and the engine is up to temp, i dont use the stop start a lot though.

When I bought mine second hand it never worked at all. So it ended up back at fords. They tested the battery and said it wasn't at full charge. They trickle charged it over night and it's worked ever since.

I can have lights on wipers on heated seats you name it and it will still cut the engine.

So if you can, maybe it's worth taking back to the dealership.
