leeroy_25
So I had my door card off today and when I pulled it off pretty much all the popper bits stayed in the door. To refit the card I presume these need to come out and go back int the door as I cannot see a way to slide the card back onto them? So I looked at them and they are different to the old ones. They have a head that pushes through the centre of the gripper part opening it out to lock it in the door. You would think it would be a simple case of pull on the head and the centre would pop back out but oh no! They seem like they have some kind of one way locking on them so you cannot pull them out? Please can someone shed some light on this and exactly what they might be called assuming I am going to break a few getting them out and need replacements?! Thank you Lee
troy45
Assuming the pins look like these the way I've released them is to use a trim fork inserted in between the part of the pin flush to the door panel and the head of the pin then twist it so it forces the rear part outwards. If you don't go overboard twisting enough to snap the head off it works to split the pin open again. Once you've got the knack it's quite easy :)
leeroy_25
Yes. That is the ones..I don't have a trim fork.. And I jsut found them on eBay for cheap so I may as well buy the clips instead of the trim fork! might get one anyway for another day. I tried pulling the head of the pin out with some carpenters pincers and they do not want to seem to budge. I guess to put them back when you push the panel on it pops the head back in and locks it in place. Nice idea.. if only they had not made the poppers so stiff it they would work a treat for interior panels! Thank yo Lee
STEADS
Have you got a pair of long nose pliers try them that's what I use in conjunction with a flat bladed screw driver .

troy45
You may find it tricky getting the pins out even if you're prepared to break them, might lead to the ends falling into the door panel and rattling about. Another trick which worked for me was using one of the retainers off the doorpad (which broke off when I removed the pad) - refit this to the pin and twist/pull it outwards to release the pins. While just pulling on the pins doesn't seem to work, if you're able to bend the head over slightly as you pull it this also takes pressure offthe splayed out end inside the door and releases it a lot easier. I'd try that on 1 and see how you get on.
