CasuallyDressed
Hello guys and girls, first post here! I'm in the market for a new Fiesta. I'm pretty much set on the 1.0 Ecoboost, just because of the performance advantages - 125bhp vs. 82. I'm just wondering if there are any major disadvantages when it comes to the 1.0 engine? I assume fuel economy at higher revs won't be as good as with the 1.25? What about things like reliability? Is there any clear benefit to the 1.25? Cheers,
alexp999
Afaik there are no pros for the 1.25 Ecoboost is faster, cleaner and more effecient. There is a reason that it has won engine of the year, 3 years in a row, which is every year since it launched :)
Paramanic
Fun Factor! i love this car a had a 1.25 mk6 fiesta which was fun but this takes to a new level! plus better economy nonce you drive it theres no going back. tax free and im getting roughly 43mpg and thats mostly town driving with a little country. my mate has the 1.25 mk7 and he hates it.... loves the car hates the engine he said there isnt enough pull in it once you got a couple people in it and says it uses alot of fuel for town driving and yeah think it has the same mpg or less. if you want a inbetween what about the 1.0 ecoboost 100ps? HarryNLD
The ecoboost engine is in almost every way better than the 1.25 duratec engine. The only thing that you have to get used to is the gearbox ratio. 5th gear is very long, what makes it perfectly for highway cruising, but other than that, never use this gear. If you asked me, Ford should make an 6 speed gearbox (like the Focus 1 litre ecoboost) optional.
Rogue2
I recently changed from a 1.4 Mk7 to a 1.0 ecoboost 125 & there is no going back. My 1.4 was quite slow (after having 1.6 escorts & focuses) & was starting to get abused by me, so I test drove a 1.0 ecoboost 125 titanium X & decided I had to have an ecoboost. MattDRX
1.0 definitely, the 1.25 is an ancient engine now, minimal lag at low revs around town and it does 60 in 2nd gear, plus no doubt you'll want "mods" and there is a much better choice for it
CasuallyDressed
Super, thanks everyone! Confirmed my suspicions. Will be driving one very soon indeed! Exciting! :)
Celticfan
Agree with the others. I went from a 1.6 petrol Focus to the 1.0 125 Focus. Wow! What a car. It's brought back enjoyable driving to me.
matt1981
I'm so glad I paid the extra for the ecoboost. I've just come back from Bournemouth (from Birmingham) and it was brilliant. 50mpg I got.
CasuallyDressed
OK, I'm now actually going for the Fiesta Red special edition which is 140 brake. Again, anything I should know about it? Please tell me it's amazing as my heart is set on it. Such a beautiful car
The Dark Knight
Ecoboost 1.0 all the way!! Superb engine! I had one for 12 months before a dealer won me over with their offer on the ST-2. I tried driving like a nun in the ST just to see what I got and managed 55mpg! Usually mid 30's. Drove like a nun in the 1.0 and saw 65mpg, usually mid to high 40's.
