Fiesta 1.25 Zetec Se 2001 Engine

Featured Replies

The engines seized on my 1.25 fiesta and I was wondering if it's possible to fit a 1.4 zetec se instead and if so would I have to change anything else I.e ecu or gearbox or anything thanks for any help you can give me.

The ecu will come with the 1.4 engine I would have though but the immobiliser will need re programing and I would say the gearbox that come with the 1.4 has different ratios to deal with the power accordingly.

the easiest, best and probably cheapest thing to do is get the keys, ignition, locks, BCU and ECU from the 1.4 - these parts all have to match for the immobilisor but it would not need reprogramming if you had all the right bits

The Fiesta MK5 and MK6 16 valve engines have different engine controls so wiring would be the obvious difference if you were looking to drop a later engine into an earlier model.

Thanks for all the above info I'm thinking of just putting a 1.25 back in as I've found a low mileage one it looks exactly the same as mine except the engine code of mine ie dha and the replacement is dhf code are these interchangeable but using my ecu etc thanks for any help you can give me as I don't want to scrap the car it's in very good condition.

Just had a quick scan and the difference is emissions level.

The later engine you have found will have a TMAP and your existing engine has a MAF sensor.

Great thanks for the help sorry if I'm asking a stupid question but can I swap my sensors and manifold onto the new engine without any problems sorry to ask so many questions but I don't want to buy an engine I can't use thanks again.

Its a good question and I don't know the answer.

I would have thought that the matching sensors would be a straight swap and fit but I guess it depends on whether the plugs are the same for attaching them to the current loom, as for the manifold I can't see why the block would have a different layout to be fair.

With emission level changes you would expect changes to the head, it MIGHT have slightly larger manifold ports or the stud positions got changed. It may look the same but when you go to bolt the old manifold on it doesn't fit.

Or you could be lucky, and what's the chance of that :(
