Inspection Service

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I've heard something about new cars needing an "inspection service" after 1-2000 miles. Is this correct? I can't seem to find anything online...

Thanks in advance!

Most supplying dealers will give the car a free check over at 1500 miles, it's just to have a look around and make sure everything's in order. It's not essential but good for piece of mind.

Ah I see! Lol, wouldn't really work with my supplying dealer as they're about 160 miles away!

For this ST the dealer was 230 miles away so not too fussed about a check up, will get it looked over when I have an oil change at 4k (because I want it done for peace of mind not because it has to).

Just had my FREE 1500 mile check done but fell for the old "petrol treatment" additive which is supposedly highly recommended as it "cleans everything and keeps the car running like new" so the FREE check actually cost me £30. I must have "mug" written on my forehead.

Oh dear :( It's easily done with good salesmen, they persuade you and before you have a chance to think about it properly you got a bill haha!

At least it's only £30, could be worse!

Could put the additives in yourself if you filled up with shell v power or bp ultimate.

So would you say changing oil around 4k is a good idea then?

You can change the oil whenever you want, ford don't say it needs doing till 12.5k/1 year. Some people say change it earlier, I'm only getting it done for peace of mind as 12.5k seems a lot,( I'm used to older cars where a service was every 6k) saying that my transit is every 20k and I've had no issues.

Ah fair enough... I know opinion varies a lot on those sorta things!

I found this, http://www.tch.co.uk/service-parts/total-service-plan/

Looks like a good deal to me, no surprise costs at service time and they'd pick it up from work and have it back by the end of the day :)
