Auto Fan

Featured Replies

Thanks to a post on here which I can't find, hence new thread, I'm using the auto fan.

I had tried it before but thought AC had to be on for it as it comes on at first but see you can turn that off and it keeps the auto setting. I like auto things. ...Other than gears.

Now I presume it's only controlling fan speed or is it also switching the air flow direction to get the right temp ?

I think you still control where you want the air flow, I'm sure the fan speed drops when the cabin has reached the set temp then will adjust to keep that temp.

It's a good idea to keep the AC on at this time of year as it stops the windows misting up. Get the right temp in auto and everything should be fine. It won't effect performance or mpg as much as manually turning it on an off ( not that is does much anyway)

I have always associated AC with cooling car down on a hot day. Now I guess that is still its main purpose....but are you saying it still works with a set temp. .....say 19 degrees ?

Air conditioning removes moisture in the air, and is the quickest way of demisting the screen and windows, it works equally well hot or cold. Like you say most people think it is just to cool you down in the summer.

I'll give it a go since it seems to be damp n cold recently. Thanks.

You'll notice it more when it rains, if for example you coat was wet, the car mists up quickly, using the fan will clear the windows slowly but the mist will come back as the air is still moist. AC will be quicker and if left in auto will keep it clear.

Have you pressed the windscreen setting yet? Everything comes on at full speed and heat and it clears really quickly.

Surprising how quick the heaters do heat up too.

Yeah pressed the max screen once and uttered some religious swear words by its power. Holy f....

I'll definitely give the AC auto route a chance though.

Also have the heated front screen of course if all else fails.

yeah a do the same a turn the ac on with auto fan but then turn ac off and keep auto fan on all the time without ac and i dont get the car steaming up etc and it raised the fan speed to heat the car up or lower it without using the ac. a tend to use ac only to clear windows in morning with the Max button but turn it off and do what i said before :) just my preference to be honest

Had this running on auto today with AC and like that the fan speed drops under stop conditions. No misting up today, though maybe it wasn't going to anyway.
