Should I Clean A Brand New Car?

Featured Replies

This may sound silly, but I've seen a few people talk about doing this and I can't find a definitive answer online...

Should I clean a new car straight away? Is there any benefit to it? Is this a good time to wax and/or use some sort of protective treatment?

Cheers!

it should come with a full valet on order, unless your are supaguarding etc it I'd treat it as normal.

Although if you keep a car clean from the start and keep at it naturally it will look its best.

Yes, if its not supergaurded, give it a good wash and a couple of coats of wax/wheel sealant and it'll be much easier to clean next time. :)

Especially in this weather, a coat of wax is the best idea. I gave mine a full detail at the weekend (1 week old) and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned for about a month already! Dust everywhere :P

Should I be using any particular type of wax? I actually have a cousin who used to do a bit of valeting on the side, might just chuck him some money to give it a good polish. I have some poor boy wheel wax I'm definitely applying on day 1.

It shouldn't need polishing really but you can if you want.

Personally I use Poorboys Nattys Paste wax because its a good price, easy to use and lasts quite well. That along with their wheel sealant is a good combo, and what I did with mine when I got it lol.
