Scratch On My Beloved Mk.4

Featured Replies

Thanks for taking time to read this,

Yesterday, while cleaning my fiesta, i discovered a 60cm long scratch on the rear side panel.

The scratch can be slightly felt with fingernail. It appears white.

Although my fiesta is 1999 mk4, it is pristine and running at 46,000 mls.

I'm basically looking for any advice on a diy. fix. I've read many opinions on line but not sure what to do.

Pictures are gonna be asked for before help probably... Pictures please :)

Hi, as you can see white below, if you're sure it's not silver metal? Then t-cut will disguise it, not the harsh stuff that melts and blends in your paintwork, but the colored polish that's a bit like shoe polish it kind of fills in and colours at the same time. I had 1997 p-reg in the same colour up until a few years ago lovely car, it was my first car and like yours in pristine condition for age. Good luck, try this first it's a cheap fix, and looks fine, you can do more serious repair if no good. :-)

Thanks for the advice.

I've also been told to use autoglym as its less abrasive. Any views on this product?

I'll try get a photo on later

Depends on what you're trying to do... If it's deep you'll want abrasive to polish it out.

I'll advise more once I see the photo

The pics actually make the scratch look wider than it is.

Ooh, that looks pretty deep! If you're *very* lucky that could be machine polished out, but if not it'd be a paint repair job.

Do you have any professional detailers nearby? That'd be a good start to see what they could do! I'm not exactly a pro :(
