Maximising Fiesta Mk 5/6 ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I own a zetec blue 1.25 fiesta which I love driving, I see it is 49.0 mpg combined on auto trader and honest

Johns mpg with a realistic of 40mpg

I really only get 34-36mpg now we're as when I got the car 3 months ago I was calculating 41mpg, only

Change is a tyre so notning really drastic

Any recommendations to get more mpg out of my car?

Petrol

Driving

Tyre inflation

Any help is appreciated

A good swrvice never does any harm!! Use good quality parts (not necessarily OEM, but don't plump for the cheapest parts your local motor factors stock).

Get rid of any unnecessary weight (having a poo before you drive won't make much difference - but the missus' handbag might!!)

Driving: gentle acceleration and braking - read the road and react early. Harsh acceleration and braking can kill your MPG. Short trips aren't good either...car is at its best when fully warmed up

Tyres: keep them at the recommended pressures.

Fuel: might squeeze a bit more MPG and power out of anything other than supermarket fuel. I use Shell after Asda & Morrisons caused lumpy idle, lack of throttle response and poor MPG. Switched to Shell and it cured the problems. Can't say for certain what the MPG change has been though

Yeah I stopped using super market petrol, although the trip computer swear a full tank is 360 miles I know it isn't and will gradually adjust it self and a week where I used asdas it was gone in 4 days were as shells I can squeeze 6 days average use between Leeds and Manchester,

What's the recommended tyre inflations?

my economy has gone down over the last month due to colder mornings, they use a hell of a lot more warming up now as it takes longer, gone from 44MPG to 40MPG doing exactly the same journeys, same traffic, same fuel and same driving style ( bad ) wait until it gets really cold.

Hey bud

I had exact same car!

(check my gallery)

You weren't the only one getting these figures so it's the actually the real figures ur getting already nothing will really help the mpg to be honest you keep front at 32 and back tyres at 29 if a remember. (without heavy goods) the tyre brings a extra 1 or 2mpg as for fuel it does nothing apart from burn a hole in it pocket and mines was serviced and was in mint condition

You might have my old car! A sold mines to a garage 3 months odd ago lol (slim chance lol)
