The Finished Product: Winter Tyres Fitted!

Featured Replies

All fitted today and ready to rock! 4x Continental TS850 on 16" alloys. Series of photographs below, starting with the manky wheels as bought off eBay. I've also included a close up of the ST stickers I bought off eBay for £6.

You will also see a comparison photograph between the standard tyres and the winter tyres. Personally, I think the wheels look very good, especially as they are just for winter usage but let me know what you think.

Looks alright to me. I'd be happy to have them on all year round.

Cheers. Just edited the post to include the manky wheels photo. The upload failed first time

Did you refurb them yourself? They look brand new.

I used a guy I know who does them. Charged me £35 per wheel. So £100 for the wheels and £140 for the refurb is still cheap at £240 for what are now new wheels! The damage was only cosmetic, no cracks or anything.

It took him 4 hours to sand down one of the wheels, they were so manky!

4 hours on one wheel. Wow.

That is a really good price though.

Can anyone advise on this issue please? The manual states that the tyre pressures on the standard ST tyres are 36psi front, 26 rear.

My winter tyres are 195/45/R16. These appear in the manual as the standard size on the Zetec-S and quote 33psi front, 26 rear.

Will I need to increase those pressures any? I ask because the ST should be slightly heavier than the ecoboost 1.0 because of the bigger engine. (Might be wrong on the weight issue though, just assuming)

Cheers

Parkers list the ST as 1,163KG and a 1.0l Zetec-S as 1,091KG. 72KG is a passenger weighing just over 11 stone so nothing major when you think about it...

Cheers. I will go with the recommended pressures for the tyre size then.
