Nathan_M
Right the top and bottom of it is I want a new shape ST, but one can only dream, so I have found myself a lovely little Fiesta Metal on a 2011 plate, now where I'm stuck is a rough idea of how much ,my insurance will go up by from my little 1.4 flame, my current insurance costs £820 being a little 20 year old I guess I'm branded with the boy racer mentality, I'm thinking something like 1100 perhaps more are there any other younglings with such a car who could give me some idea? Cheers.

iNath
Ring up your insurer and ask for a quote.

Nathan54771
I'm 21 and my St insurance is £742 for the year on my own policy. But it's irrelavant as its all personal with insurance and no point discussing with others. It's the luck of the draw unfortunately with your details and shopping around. dmizz93
I'm 21 coming up w/ either 2 or 3 years no claims, can't remember! My ST fully comp is 550 for the year which is reasonable.. Simple things can bring the cost of insurance down.. Say it's parked on the road overnight (less risk than in the garage believe it or not), try and be stingy with miles as well; mine is set at 8k a year and knocked a few quid off.. Also putting parents on makes it a lot cheaper too - don't need to explain the ins and outs but they're older, held license longer.. It spreads the liability on your insurance therefore bringing the risk down! I'd go on go compare and have a look at rough prices.. I've been with admiral/elephant since I passed and they're willing to beat any other companies that 'quote' me cheaper than admiral can ;) what insurance provider you with? Nathan_M
Aviva previously, but now it's through a local broker, as far as mine is concerned there is only about 20 quid in it between any for my little ginger right now, the people in the shop say that the insurance round here is more because the roads are higher risk I guess being younger they think tree and hedge impacts, HAHAHA. winemart2
This must be the only advantage of being older. If my insurance was more than £150 i'd jump in the canal.
Nathan_M
I'm thinking of doing that anyway at the minute:lol:
dmizz93
May I ask why through the broker? I found my local broker couldn't get near other insurers! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Nathan_M
They are about £10 more expensive than anything on a comparison website, and if i ever needed they would deal with the paperwork and claims etc, etc. It's just easier to me. Phil 87
Whatever insurance quotes you get, try adding your parents as named drivers because this can reduce the quote by quite a lot. I got some quotes a few days ago and adding my parents reduced the cheapest quote by about £84.
Nathan_M
Yeh I have done all that I have 3 on there, it's just expensive down here mine is about as cheap as it gets amongst fellow ford owners around here, the cheapest things to insure here are, uhhh ohhhhhh it makes me feel sick just thinking about them, Vauxhalls. Nathan_M
You wouldn't believe how silly the quote I get for the Metal is, insurance group 17, 134hp vs insurance group 10 and 80 hp well the Metal comes in 180 quid cheaper, I'm very confused right now. HAHAHAHA

My insurance actually went down when I got my brand new Fiesta to replace my 2007 FIAT Panda worth £2000. Went from £230 a year to £210. Insurance is weird sometimes. Jonathan If I had to guess I'd say that's because insurance companies pay out so much for personal injury / death that the extra cost of replacing a new car doesn't make much difference. And then there's the fact that the new car would be safer, it'll protect you better and reduce the chance of injury.

My forthcoming Red Edition will cost £170 a year. I'll obviously be much safer...

Although will be interesting to see what the difference around a track will be.. To the OP. Find a registration number and plug it into one of the cost comparison sites. MattDRX
unsure why'd you think it's stupid pricing, insurance is all risk based, stats show that hooligans in 1.2's tearing about have the most accidents so therefore insurance is higher, it's cheaper for me to insurance a Ferrari F355 than it is an Old Punto GTT or R5GTT. all based on stats of accidents and PI claims only, not ones opinion of the car and what is supposedly mentally quicker ( 1.5 seconds or so in this case )
