It's a 1.4 thank you, hahahaha, yeh I know what you mean but it's still seems a bit of a con if anything were to happen to the 2 year old car it would cost more to repair ultimately.

Well car parts are car parts at the end of the day and are likely to cost a similar amount, sometimes older parts command higher fee's as there is virtually no supply but parts are still demanded by the unfortunate ones that have breakdowns/prangs.

Newer cars are supposed to be safer and all that, also because the market value is more you can effectively have a worse crash, requiring more repairs, before they'll deem it a write off as its still economically repairable, unless you really f*ck it! lol That said the chance they have to 'pay out' is less on a newer car.

combined with the lack of statistics on RTC's and Speeding fines etc assosciated with newer cars and you can get yourself quite a nice motor with attractive insurance too ;)

Today's new problem is I'm so tight I may just rag my ginger until she croaks. Only 29k I think I will wait for one of the newer shaped ST'S to come in at a more attractive used price, hahahaha.

True Dat Dmizz, look at old Nissan 300ZX's and Pulsars, you have no chance of getting a part and hence why the insurance on them is so stupidly high these days, any accident will be a full write off.

Newer cars are always cheaper to insure as there are no stats, the ST was dirty cheap in year one, my renewal just came through for £98PM, up from £41, managed to get it elsewhere for £44 though.

Corsa VXRs are a lot of money to insure, so are clios, both have big following and their respective forums are full of "I've just binned my car how much will a repair cost me" threads.
