Passenger Side 'door Stay' (Plastic Strut) Snapped

Featured Replies

The wind took my car door earlier today as someone opened the passenger side door on my Mk 7.5 3dr Fiesta, and it has snapped the plastic 'door stay'/strut thing at the bottom of it?

I was wondering if Ford would cover this under standard warranty, or if not, whether it is easy/cheap to fix under ford or another garage. Someone has said that it could be quite difficult to replace so I thought I would ask the gurus at the ford owners club, as the Ford garage closes at 1 today.

The door check assembly should just be a couple of bolts.

I believe the nuts are accessible from the wheel arch once you remove the arch liner but should be able to pop out the pin holding the strap to the door frame.
