Fiesta - Loud Engine Noise/whine

Featured Replies

Hi all

My Fiesta econetic 1.6 (60 plate) has been getting louder and louder over the last week or so. I recorded a couple of videos to capture the noise today. I think its the belts/pulleys next to the engine but not sure which ones exactly.

Can anyone more car savvy take a look and let me know what it could be / what needs attention? I can't get it looked at until next week so would anyone advise not driving till then?

vids are at:

Many thanks

Hard to say from a video sounds like a dry bearing could be any one of the jockey wheels. Try a splash of WD40 on each wheel in turn.

The zetec se engines used to be rubbish for the water pumps on the mk6 mine went and sounded something like this look for a wobble on the black pulley slightly back from the alternator that is being driven by the back of the belt.

WD40 dissolves Grease and will just try it out in the long run making it worse, it needs grease whatever it is.

Dry it out rather.
