ST's look good with the red callipers so +1 for those, the drums would looks good stealthy in the black, would stay away from too bright or outrageous lol

Wouldn't bother tbh, after a while they'll just corrode through as just cast iron, go with the rust and road filth FTW!

Don't paint drums anything other than Black they look so rubbish coloured

Exactly :)

Third that! :)

On that...doesn't it cost Ford more to have to manufacture 2 sets of brakes. Discs front Drums rear? Wouldn't it be cheaper as a bulk thing to do just discs all round ? Or is there some kind of performance thing with having a split ??

Front and rear disks are different size so just cheaper to fit drums. A lot of manufactures still fit rear drums on the small cars.

which is a shame as drums look so disgusting... One thing that let's it down style wise

Right about the drums.. Only painted the calipers

here's what im going to do:

1. take wheels off wire brush drums make them smooth as possible also making cardboard cut out to put behind drum.

2. put wheels back on go for spin getting the drums warm.

3.come back wheels off, then spray with heat resistant paint leave it for couple of hours and !Removed!'s your aunt.

  • 3 weeks later...

cheers got a day off sunday FINALLY!!!!

So gonna do this :D seen http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/car-maintenance-accessories/paints-and-primers/engine-paint/?549774081&0&cc5_162

Probs get these black and blue and how did you get on lewis?

I dismantled my front discs and back drums to do the job properly.

I did them on my last car, my white ZS Ecoboost and now the Black Edition.

After cleaning the calipers and drums I used black gloss enamel paint on the rear drums and red hammerite smooth on the calipers.

While that first coat was drying I gave the the working parts an intense clean and lubricate, using copaslip, making sure no grease got onto the braking surfaces.

Then I applied a second coat of paint and as soon as that was dry I carefully re-assembled everything and I'm happy with the result, still good after 6 weeks.
