Mk6.5 Fiesta 1.25 Poor Braking Performance

Featured Replies

Drove my girlfriends mk6.5 fiesta 1.25 style the other day and noticed the brake pedal is long and the brakes don't really do much.

I am guessing changing the discs/pads and fluid will solve it?

Are the brakes usually crap and are there any tricks when changing the brakes or is it just like other cars?

Start with the fluid.. When was it last changed?

I have no idea, probably never has been.

Are the brakes usually crap.......

If you think they're crap you should try a 77 VW Golf :D

To add to the above. Ideally you need to inspect all 4 brakes. Looking for any excessive wear or otherwise.

Change and discs/pads/shoes/drums where required. Change the brake fluid also as you say you don't know how old it is.

If the performance is still poor and the pedal has excessive travel then you could be looking at a replacement master cylinder.
