Alloy Wheels

Featured Replies

hi there

Not been on here for a while but I gave a question

I know very little about cars apart from the basics

I got the upgraded alloys on my 63 plate titanium x. Too the low profile ones

I am starting to dislike these alloys I would have wished never upgraded them.

They are the 205/40/r17

How easy would it be to change these to the 195/50/r16

If I did change them would I notice any real diffrence, or would it be so minimal it would not be worth it.

Help would be great

Steve

Would be pretty easy I believe, would just need the alloys and new tyres?

You may notice a different as the tyres will probably be a bigger profile so should be a smoother ride.

Although personally I think the 16 inch alloys look lost in the fiestas wheel arches

I agree they do fil the arches better , but would I notice much difference in ride quality, or would it be minimal that it would not make much of a diffrence

Only if the tyres are a larger profile (not low profile like I'm guessing your 17" are?).

But as it's only an inch difference probably not to much

Will be less road noise. Smoother ride on the 16s

I use 15s during the winter and they feel spongie compared to the 17s

So in simple terms I am better sticking with what I have

This change is OK for rolling circumference as well see here http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator so no need to recalibrate your speedo.

Personally though I prefer the larger wheel and low profiles but if your not happy with the ride it will be a sensible change

If there is anyone in The aberdeen area keen on a swap

Must be titanium x wheels

195/50/r16

Let's us know and we can discuss

I personally would not change unless you go too a 15" 55/60 profile tyre, I have 16" 195/45/16 wheels that came with the car, the actuall profile will make all the difference so going from a 40 too a 45 profile would not really do anything. I had a look before and all 16" Titanium models came with the 45 profile tyre, at least here in SA.

You can have a 17" tire with a 60 profile and it would be more comfortable than a 16" with a 45 profile

larger profile = Softer ride

Thanks folks,

Still keen to swap with anyone, also, is there anywhere I can get titanium alloys without paying a fortune for them

I'm having a set of 17" alloys refurbished for my Fiesta then I will be selling a set of Titanium 16"s with tyres but won't be for a couple of weeks. Don't know if that's any use to you.

Have Ford increased the profile on facelift cars?

16 inch used to be 45 profile but now appear to be 50.

15 inch used to be 50 profile but now appear to be 55.

I've got 16 inch but thinking about going down to 15 for a softer ride.

Thanks Richard

But I am really looking for the alloys that Willy posted a pic of.

If anyone knows of anyone who is selling or want to swap.

Or is there anywhere I can buy refurbished ones ideally with the tyres on.

We be really grateful if anyone can help or point me in the right direction

No worries. Good luck with your search

Just an update on the alloys, I got a set of eBay, check out the pics and all looks good.

So once they arrive and I get the changed over, I will have my alloys to sell.

These are the upgrade for alloys offered on the titanium x

Any interest let me know

If the new 16" rims are 50 profile they have changed them, because I have the pre-facelift Titanium and my 16" rims came with 45 profile tires, too be honest they do feel a bit hard and I would'nt mind changing them to a set of 50 profile

Same here pre-facelift but the chap up graded it when he had it new before me and zetec s alloys and

17'' with 40''s and its hard and more noise.
