What Is This For?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

New to the forum as I have just bought a 2014 Titanium X Ecoboost powershift. Previously had a Volvo V50 and loved it til it started costing megabucks.

Anyway absolutely love the Fiesta, got to know it really well but one thing puzzles me:

What is the small window in the middle of the instrument cluster for? I mean the one right in the centre, between the clocks and between the digital display and the fuel gauge.

The manuals make no mention of it and it doesn't light up when the ignition is switched on.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

In mine it has the led which shows when your full beam is on. And from what I recall in the pre-facelift it had the flashing led for the alarm.

Welcome by the way!

Ah! Not used main beam in the four weeks since I took ownership. I will try it tomorrow and see. The facelift doesn't appear to have an led for the alarm, so maybe just the high beam indicator.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I think that's all it's for. Actually, looking at the instruments, it might be a pain to dust around them.

It also shows the auto start-stop indicator for me.

Likewise, I think it's a green auto start-stop indicator. Once the engine is stopped due to this being activated, then this will light up as well.

Yes it prolly does, I always switch it off.

x years down the line I don't want a starter ring with no teeth ;)

Been there, done that.

I don't usually keep it on either, from looking at the manual there is no permanent way to turn it off through the instruments other than pressing the button every time you start the ignition which is slightly annoying.
