Help Oil Everywhere On Left Side Zetec S Tcdi

Featured Replies

Hi all....after some advice

I have a fiesta zetec s tdci 05 plate...I have noticed within the last few days that the car was lacking power.

Yesterday I was driving and everytime I accelerated I heard a whooshing noise like someone sticking their hand on a hoover pipe.

Spoke to a mechanic and he said it sounded like an air leak and not to worry to much.

I have just popped the bonnet and there is oil all over the left hand side on the washer bottle and all up on underneath of the bonnet.

Any ideas ??

possibly the pipe has come off the turbo or it has split - would explain the loss of power and oil

Yep, hose to intercooler maybe.

Have looked for loose pipes splits etc cant see anything. .....rang rac who think it maybe head gasket ? But wont come out to see as to busy

Highly unlikely to be the HG!

The pipes can be very hard to check properly in situ, and tbh this is a pretty common issue on all types of turbo equipped car.

The pipes need to be identified, removed, cleaned up and checked thoroughly for splits not just glanced at.

Thanks for all your replies....had the rac out today.

The oil leak is a red herring couldnt work that one out.

But hes put the loss of power and hissing noise down as one of 3 things or a combination.

Egr valve.... injectors. ...or my turbo is on its way out.

He also reved her alot and theres black all around exhaust and on driveway which he said is bad too.

Can see this being very £££££ :(

Can't just "dismiss" oil loss.

Have you had to keep topping the oil up? Did the car get services every time on schedule with the right oil etc. did he take any pipes off to check them or just stand holding his chin?

Of course it's your car and your money so I'll leave it at that and just suggest you do a Google Search and give yourself a better chance

Didnt take any pipes off at all....plugged in the computer which came up with cam sensor but said that could be an old fault.

All he did was rev the car and then got me to aswell while he listened.

Only bought car 6 months ago and was going to get is serviced next week.

I havent had to top up the oil up all the time just general usage.

Did look on google about oil leak :)

The most common one to split is the large diameter rubber boost hose that splits where it bends. The problem is the split only opens up on boost so get someone else to rev it as you check the pipes.

Take a close look at hose 16

Always check for some service history when you buy a car, Turbo diesels need regular good care as any other.
