Timing Belt Renewal.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Have had a look but cannot find the answer!

Wife has a 55 plate 100hp 1.6 petrol. It has done 55000miles.

At what point does the timing belt need replacing on these?

My old Omega's were 50000 miles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Steve

The timing belt of the 1.6 Duratec petrol engine needs to be changed every 8 Years or 100.000 miles/160.000 KM (whichever comes first).

Previously it was every 10 Years or 100.000 Miles but because of timing belt problems Ford reduced it to 8 years or 100.000 Miles.

Auxillary belts due change at same interval as well, but think there stretchy belts and need cutting off anyway when doing timing belt.
