Would A Label Stating "odb Port Lock" Work At All?

Featured Replies

DOH, I meant OBD.

Just wondering if an official looking label might be some form of thieving astard deterrent.

They know a car will have an alarm even trackers on it and that doesn't stop people breaking in, I wouldn't rely on just a sticker, most won't even notice it, compared to a disklok which stands out.

I think you're more secure as you have a titanium compared to say a focus RS which going by facebook 1 is getting stolen nearly everyday.

i think it would be a deterrent but do you get that many stolen or do you get that many poeple looking into your car?
but you could stick a label or get DMB to make you a professional looking gel one which you could write on it obd port locked and moved to secured location ( i seen this somewhere else but cant remember where but they apparently had a couple guys who broke into the car when they opend the door the alarm went off thats when the owner woke up and looked out and heard them saying i cant effin find it! :S

I dont know much but i havent had anyone come near my car a home but when im at work for like 3 days at a time but dont think anyone would in my area at all as a think they know the car is alarmed etc

as mark said pretty much

The best sticker of all is a TDCi badge stuck on the boot door,

Then they instantly assume its a replica :)

Etching the reg on corner of all windows works too.

Overall if they want it they will get it,

If they need a key or even a finger print and they want your car you'll find yourself acompanied requesting assistance

You can just pop the obd port out from it is and have it deep in the dash, I done this so I could have my mtune box always connected with having the cover open next to my right knee

Good idea mate! Think I will do this too when I get mountuned lol

So are fiestas a bit too easy to steal then ?

Naw there not really mate he's just doing extra precautions titaniums hav alarms in them too (trust me it's loud I've set it off !)

Once they smash the window and the alarm goes off, it will take them a few seconds to plug into the OBD port and silence the alarm, if you have keyless they can also start the car.

Video of an RS4 being stolen in the same way, owner never heard a thing

That's if they find obd

Why have ford made this so easy to steal through this port ? And is it only keyless that has the problem. ?

Ford haven't delibrately made them easy to steal, thieves aren't stupid lazy yes but they know how to get around the security.

This is happening on audi, BMW and other high end cars. It's not helped by an EU rule that stopped manufacturers insisting that cars had to have official dealer services for the warranty. The ECUs had to be accessible to all garages, so the technology is now availed to all, manufacturers can't lock the systems for there own use.

And yes mainly keyless, if the car has a standard key they would need to steal it the old fashioned way.

Ah ok mine has key. Im only 5dr titanium anyway. My guess is ST and even S are more attractive. Ill park next to an ST when I can lol
