Hub Dyno Vs Rolling Road

In theory a hub dyno gets you closer to measuring the actual power from the engine as it eliminates the losses from weight of wheels & tyres plus friction of tyres to rollers etc.

But if you're after measuring (brochure) power at the actual crankshaft then there are still fiddle correction factors applied to quantify losses through gearbox and drivetrain.

Also you can only really compare figures against similar hub-dyno runs though really any dyno figures are only comparable for that particular dyno.

Seems to be so much smoke and mirrors involved when calculating power back to the crankshaft - was lot easier when I've had bikes dyno'd and power is taken at the wheel.
