FrozenWhiteZetecS
I've just bought a K&N panel filter for my zetec S 2014, acceleration is worse after I installed it and response in the car feels weird. I've read that the oil from the filter is very bad for the small turbo, is that true? Can I remove the red oil and mount the filter again? Willy
Shouldn't make any difference with the filter fitted as mountune supply them with there remap. Did you take any of the pipe work apart or remove the air flow sensor? I'd also consider disconnecting the battery.
FrozenWhiteZetecS
No pipework was taken apart, nether the airflow sensor, should I remove that? What do you mean with disconnecting the battery? Should I disconnect it and put it on again? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Willy
Disconnecting the battery resets the ecu. It won't erase anything. That should be all you need to do. Replacing your filter shouldn't make much difference to the car other than give you a slightly deeper engine note a full throttle.
FrozenWhiteZetecS
Okay, I will try to do that tomorrow :-) Thanks Willy! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Ffoxy
If you got filter oil on the MAF it will damage it. They are very hard to clean successfully. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app
FrozenWhiteZetecS
I will try to clean the MAF today, if it isn't working then i will probably have to buy a new one. Do i need to disconnect the battery while cleaning MAF sensor? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Ffoxy
It should come out really. Don't touch anything with a cloth or paper. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app
FrozenWhiteZetecS
I know, I will use some 99% isoprophyle alcohol to spray it with. Do you know if i need to disconnect the battery while cleaning? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Ffoxy
I always have when replacing them but I never replaced an Ecoboost version. If I had to guess I would disc the battery. Better safe than sorry. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app
FrozenWhiteZetecS
I just rinsed the MAF with electric contact cleaner and afterwards I soaked it in 99% isoprophyle alcohol. Results are great! car runs as new, lost power is restored an car runs more smooth now and sounds more quiet, thanks for the help mates. :) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

FrozenWhiteZetecS
The question now is if it is a good idea to put the K&N Panel without oil in again or leave it standard until i get induction kit without pre-oiled filter ? :) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Ffoxy
I'm staying with the standard filter. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app
iantt
unless you have altered the mapping of your ecoboost then putting in kn filter wont make any difference to your car, stick with a standard filter replaced at 37.5k intervals.
