Mk4 Fiesta Different Ecu's?...

I tried to replace the ignition barrel and ecu on a fiesta mk4 a ccouple of days ago... It all went fine until we got to the ecu... the one in the car was labelled "Hunk" 97FB-12A650-ASA... The one that was sent was called "SLOB"... The sockets were totally different, so the car is still stuck...

Does the ecu have to be a another "HUNK" or is there others that will fit?... Is there another way around it altogether?... Truly stuck for now as I can't find another hunk anywhere... :(

    I did some research on this not so long a go and found that the four letter code (hunk, clip, etc...) Has to match the original from the car.

    Have you thought about picking up a brand new lock set from eBay, and having the old transponders copied to a new key, thus keeping the current ECU, and have all matching locks?

    You can get a lock set off ebay for about £30, this will come with keys without transponders and then somewhere like Timpsons can supply, cut and code a new key to the new locks and copy the transponder from the old ones for £40.

    I fitted the locks myself in about 1 hour.
