Intermittent Loss Of Power

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2003 Fiesta with 1.4TDCI engine. (80k on the clock)

When I am accelerating (moderately), the power suddenly disappears for a split second then comes back.

I cant seem to relate this problem with anything such as road conditions, accelerating patterns, gear etc which had made it hard for me to work out what is wrong,

When the power does disappear, the revs don't change (noticeably anyway), no strange noises.

When the power comes back, the car seems fine again until it does it again, perhaps a mile down the road or 5miles, its quite random.

Im not sure if its just me but the car does sometimes judder when you wouldn't usually expect it say 1800rpm on a flat road, ive only had the car for about 2weeks (been driving for about 5 years so don't think its my driving).

Any ideas or help would be great.

Any idea when the fuel filter was last changed.

No service history until most recent owner who had done oil and oil filter changes.

Fuel filter would make sense, shouldnt be too bad a job as has a priming pump on the car and could do with doing anyway seeing that there is no service history, and the cambelt.

Any idea how much a cambelt, tensioners and waterpump would be fitted on the 1.4tdci?
