Zs Seating Position

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I've had my ZS since the end of October now, but I just can't seem to settle on my seating position! I'm thinking of resetting so it's completely wrong so I can adjust it from a "blank state" as it were. I'm pretty tall so I can't seem to find a position that's quite right... Any suggestions from other tall fiesta owners?

I have mine all the way to the back and seat raised up a bit to the point where the sun visor just misses your head when you pull it down. That way there's enough room for my legs and all the controls are comfortably in reach of my arms. I adjust the recliner so it's a bit less than bolt up right to support the bottom of your back but can still relax on motorways

I'm about 6 foot 5 and I've got the seat all the way to the floor and quite close the the front. My left knee rests on the dashboard while driving.

I couldn't be more comfortable.

Do you not have issues with knees hitting the steering wheel? I'm always worried if I go too far forward that'll happen :P

Nope, never once hut the steering wheel and I'm not exactly a skinny guy haha.

that's the position my leg rests in when my foot is just resting on the clutch. The steering wheel is centralised and as far in as it'll go and I've still got a good 6 inches between leg and wheel.

Apologies for the pic quality... its pitch black up here in the sticks haha

I see, don't worry the picture is perfectly clear! I'll have a look tomorrow :) cheers!

I'd be more worried about what would happen to your knees in a crash. I've heard that you're supposed to sit as far back as is practical, or something along those lines, which I think is to reduce risk of injury in a crash.

Try this as a simply way to adjust your seat:

First, get the seat all the way down, then move it as far back as you can while still being able to comfortably press the clutch all the way in.

Then adjust the back of the seat so it supports your back properly.

Then adjust the steering wheel so it's close enough to your chest that your arms are bent slightly while holding it. I have mine extended fully, but make sure there's at least a 50cm gap between the wheel and your chest for the airbag.

Then adjust the wheel so it's as low as possible without obstructing your legs, or your view of the instrument cluster. This is because the steering wheel is supposed to be as perpendicular to your back as you can manage, another reason to not have the back of the seat angled too far back.

That's basically how I adjusted my seat and it's a good comfortable and sporty driving position. Look at how racing drivers sit and you'll see why you don't want to be slouched all the way back like a lot of people do.

You can fine tune the angle of the seat back and the position of the steering wheel afterwards, just to make sure that you don't have to lean forward when steering, because that's what will give you back ache.

Hope this helps :)

Awesome, I shall investigate in the morning :) Thanks!

Cheers for the advice guys, I tweaked it all as you suggested and much more comfortable :) I think I had the steering wheel a bit too high and it makes a big difference!

Glad to hear your comfortable mate! Nothing worse than an uncomfortable riding position. That's coming from someone who owned a Hyundai Coupe haha

My mate has one of those, have you ever tried sitting in the back? I did once and the rear window was trying to crush my head lol.

Haha, did his come with the warning at the back? It's a picture of someone's head getting cracked because their in the back seat and the boot got closed haha.

Never sat in the back but to sit up semi straight I had to put my head up into the sun roof...
