Plastic Flap Above Heater Control (Secret Compartment)

Featured Replies

I just painted another heater surround and the flap in gloss black but the new one don't have

the clips on the bottom to clip in,just like 2 clip holes where you can slot a rod into to open.

Did anyone ever solve or know how the clip it in,top part is fine as its just a centre push in clip.

Cheers

Looking at it,it might be velcro or something like that but i think the heat will make it fall off.

Pics?

You've got a different spec one by the sounds of it, I think they made it accessible on the newer models of the mk7 so would explain why you have the wrong type ?

This is the one in my car when i had it,its got 2 clips that clip into the frame of the car.

The one i have now has the 2 same clips but not raised up just on the flat edge.

Forgot to add,can you buy these from ford as the other one is no good, was thinking of getting

one if price was ok,good to have part number for a black one like the one in the picture as i will have

to do it black.

Yes available from Ford. Don't know the part number but I bought a gloss black one when I updated the console and it fits perfectly.

Its a pitty you don't have the part number as our ford dealer just takes the one number

off mine and i will get a silver one and have to spray it,pic of the back would be

a massive help then i could print it and show them.

They aint the best ford garage out.

My one of these has broken! The middle clip which clips in directly above the heater controls has somehow bent and won't fit properly causing it to come slightly loose whilst driving...

How much are these? If cheap I may just buy instead of taking it in for warranty work!

Go on eBay and look for a fiesta metal, these have the blck parts you want , take the registration of that car and the ford dealer should be able to find the parts from that.

Been up and its £15 for the part and you just taken my idea lol.

Was looking at fiesta metal for the reg as ford says it goes off the interior color.

I believe this '' secret compartment '' was originally intended as a pull out ashtray by Ford.
